EMERGENCY SCHOOL CLOSING PLAN
Monday, January 04, 2010

Generally speaking, it has always been the policy of School District 132 schools to remain open regardless of weather.  If cause for closing the schools occurs prior to the school day, announcements will be made on radio stations WGN-720, WBBM-78, all local television stations, touch-tone phone (847-238-1234), and online http://www.emergencyclosings.com.  The District will use an automated telephone notification system to inform parents.

If dire emergency arises during school hours and children have to be sent home we will implement the following plans:

  1. The District will call the Emergency Closing Center to announce school closing.
  2. The District will contact the Village of Calumet Park and the City of Blue Island so that crossing guards will be on duty.
  3. In case of early dismissal or an emergency dismissal, no student will be released from school to any person other than the custodial parent(s)/guardian(s) without the written or oral permission of the custodial parent(s)/guardian(s).
  4. In cases of severe and inclement weather, it is the parent's responsibility to determine if their child should attend school.
